Cigaire · Version 2026-10-29-r2

Terms & Conditions

Please read these terms carefully before using the Cigaire mobile application and associated web interfaces.

01

Using Cigaire

Cigaire is designed to help you explore outdoor ambient air quality and review an approximate cigarette-equivalent comparison. You must enter a profile name and accept these Terms & Conditions and the Privacy Policy before accessing the application dashboard. You may decline at any time by leaving or uninstalling the application.

02

Understanding the readings

AQI and particulate pollutant values displayed in Cigaire originate from the Open-Meteo atmospheric telemetry and Copernicus Atmospheric Monitoring Service (CAMS) regional model.

These measurements describe a wider geographic area rather than a micro-sensor located at your exact personal coordinates, and may therefore differ from local physical monitoring stations.

AQI Standard: Cigaire defaults to the United States Air Quality Index (US AQI), which calculates concentration bands differently from national standards in other jurisdictions (such as India's National AQI). Always verify the timestamp and source attribution; refreshing the interface reflects model updates and does not instantiate a physical observation.
03

The cigarette comparison

The cigarette equivalence estimation employs the mathematical formula:

PM2.5 ÷ 22 × (exposure hours ÷ 24)

This formula assumes that the displayed outdoor PM2.5 level remains constant over the chosen duration.

Educational Analogy Only: This metric is an educational translation tool designed to assist human comprehension of abstract air metrics. It does not represent commercial tobacco cigarettes actually smoked, does not constitute a clinical medical diagnosis, and is not a forecast of individual medical risk. Always follow official local environmental advisories and qualified medical guidance for health decisions.
04

Location and service availability

You may choose to search for a city manually or activate device GPS. Manual city selection uses administrative city-center coordinates. GPS queries and reverse-geocoding lookups can experience latency, imprecision, or temporary downtime.

Active internet connectivity and upstream service availability are required to refresh environmental observations; cached readings may become outdated. Cigaire does not warrant uninterrupted service availability or absolute local accuracy.

05

Responsible use

You agree not to disrupt or reverse-engineer the application, bypass gateway rate limits, or deploy automated scrapers that degrade upstream environmental providers. Original telemetry data remains subject to its owners' intellectual property rights and statutory attribution requirements.

06

Updates and termination

These terms and the Privacy Policy are permanently accessible within Settings. When terms are updated with a new revision identifier, Cigaire will prompt for renewed consent prior to granting dashboard access. You may discontinue use at any point. Purging local application data removes your saved profile, custom preferences, and acceptance records.
