Privacy Policy

Cigaire saves your entered name, selected avatar, appearance and exposure settings, chosen location, recent air-quality cache, policy acceptance versions, and timestamp locally on this device.

GPS features require your device's explicit location permission. When enabled, your coordinates are transmitted to Open-Meteo to retrieve localized air quality metrics and directly to BigDataCloud to identify your administrative city.

Device accuracy and capture timestamps are used solely to verify coordinate recency. Cigaire does not track location in the background or attempt to infer your city from your IP address. You are always free to select a city manually or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings.

Air-quality queries contain selected geographic coordinates. City searches send query text to Open-Meteo's geocoding service, which utilizes GeoNames data.

When a shared API gateway is configured, these requests route through a Cloudflare-hosted infrastructure gateway. The gateway receives a randomly generated installation identifier to mitigate abusive query flooding; this identifier is never transmitted to Open-Meteo. Network service providers receive your IP address and standard HTTP connection metadata during transmission.

External provider data processing is governed by their respective privacy commitments: Open-Meteo, BigDataCloud, and Cloudflare.

Your local profile, interface preferences, last selected location, policy acceptance record, and installation identifier remain saved on your device until application storage or browser cache is cleared.

The application caps its cached observations to eight locations and automatically prunes stale entries during subsequent writes. Readings older than 24 hours are marked expired and never displayed as current conditions. Shared gateway logs and abuse-prevention records operate under separate automated expiration schedules.

You retain total control over your information. You may update your profile alias and avatar in Settings, switch cities, or disable location permissions directly within your operating system settings.

Clearing application storage or deleting the application purges all local records from your hardware. Cigaire does not bundle any commercial advertising networks or third-party behavioral analytics SDKs in this release.

You can review this policy at any time in the application Settings. Material updates to this document require renewed user acceptance before dashboard access is restored. Accepting this policy does not grant device GPS permissions; location access remains a distinct, voluntary system permission.
